House History Walks, Sept. 16 & 30

Ever wonder about the history of your house, such as when it was built, who were the previous owners, etc.? Join us for two upcoming house history walks where we’ll be exploring the history of some of your neighbors’ homes.

The first walk, taking place on Thursday, September 16th, will feature several homes on the near West Side. We’ll start off the tour by meeting at Fairview Park at 6pm.

The second house tour will focus on the Elmwood Park neighborhood on Thursday, September 30th at 6pm. We’ll be meeting at Friendship Park to begin this tour.

The history walks will be a great opportunity to learn more about some of the homes in your neighborhood and you’ll also learn how you can find out the history of your own home.

North By Northwest Neighborhood has created a House Research Guide booklet that provides some tips and tools about how to research the history of your home. Booklets will be provided at the walks, or you can find it online at www.nbnw-bpa.org.

September 16th @ 6pm – West Side neighborhood tour

Website Fixes – Today’s a good day

Well, something finally going right for a change! Fixed a couple of bugs today. The header images are no longer bumped off to the left and the subpage navigation back to the homepage is working again. Also had some problems with some of the header images and reloaded them so they are now cleaned up. You may notice the sidebar slideshow is working too.

Next fix involves uploading and sizing images in general. Used to have to upload them to Facebook, then copy those images back as filenamesmall.jpg and then upload them. That was nice because it made for consistent file sizes but it was alot of work. Still, also helped to make the Facebook and websites consistent so who knows, may be the way to go.

Anyway, just happy that something worked right for a change so I thought I’d share.
